Pickleball court dimensions at a glance

A pickleball court is 44 ft long and 20 ft wide for both singles and doubles, approximately 13.41 × 6.10 m. The marked playing area is 880 sq ft, or about 81.76 m². Leave the marked court dimensions separate from the surrounding playing space when measuring the flooring area.

Measure the court boundary and kitchen to the outside edges of their lines. USA Pickleball specifies 2 in (5.08 cm) court lines. The table uses exact unit conversions; the rounded metric figures in the introduction are for quick reference.

Lines, kitchen and net plane

Baselines and sidelines

The baselines form the two short ends of the 44 ft court. The sidelines form the two long edges. Singles and doubles use the same marked rectangle.

Non-volley zones

The non-volley zone, commonly called the kitchen, extends 7 ft from the net on each side across the full 20 ft court width. The two kitchen lines are therefore 14 ft apart.

Service courts and centre lines

Each end of the court is divided into left and right service courts. A centre line runs from the baseline to the kitchen line. It does not cross the kitchen.

Net context

The net plane sits at the court midpoint. The official height reference is 36 in / 91.44 cm at the sidelines and 34 in / 86.36 cm at the centre. The net and its hardware are separate from the tiled line and quantity plan.

Marked court vs tiled project footprint

Do not use 880 sq ft as an automatic order area. It describes only the 44 × 20 ft marked court. The supplied surface can also include the selected surrounding area and any perimeter treatment.

For U.S. projects, the 2026 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook distinguishes the regulation marked court, 20 × 44 ft (6.10 × 13.41 m), from the minimum playing surface of 30 × 60 ft (9.14 × 18.29 m) and the recommended 34 × 64 ft (10.36 × 19.5 m) playing surface for new construction. Playing-surface dimensions do not automatically equal a Movevia tiled purchase quantity; quantity remains based on the confirmed project/tiled footprint. Movevia is not affiliated with USA Pickleball. Outside the United States, confirm applicable local federation, facility-owner or project requirements.

For a flooring estimate, measure the full area you intend to tile, including the agreed space around the court. Enter that length and width in Design Your Court. The estimate does not add an allowance for cuts or spare tiles, so ask for those quantities separately before confirming supply.

  • Marked court: the fixed sport geometry and game lines.
  • Surrounding surface: additional tiled area selected for the project.
  • Perimeter edge trim: an optional finishing item reviewed separately.
  • Net system and fencing: separate project elements, not included in tile quantity.

Single and multiple-court planning

For one court, confirm the marked 44 × 20 ft rectangle and then define the larger surface that will actually be tiled. For several courts, plan each marked court, the selected space between courts, outer circulation and any shared perimeter. Do not multiply 880 sq ft and treat the result as the final procurement area unless the surrounding plan is already included.

Questions about pickleball dimensions

Are singles and doubles pickleball courts the same size?

Yes. Both use a 44 × 20 ft marked court.

How many square feet is a pickleball court?

The marked rectangle is 880 sq ft. The tiled project footprint can be larger and should be measured separately.

Can a smaller site use a reduced pickleball layout?

A smaller surface may display only part of the court geometry in the planning tool, but the official marked court is not rescaled. Confirm the intended use and available surrounding area before treating a reduced site as a court project.

Which Movevia sports court tiles can be considered for pickleball projects?

EC305 Series, STD305 Series and PRO300H can be considered for pickleball projects within the current Movevia range. Final selection depends on the confirmed site and project requirements. Review the Pickleball Court Flooring Application for the commercial shortlist.
